High Tea All In The Name Of Charity!

This Thursday I held an event for a few friends in the industry to join me for High Tea at the Windsor Arms hotel, to catch up and support a great cause all at the same time, Look Good Feel Better!!! If you have been to the Windsor Arms for their very famous Afternoon Tea lately you might have seen a hat rack filled with fun and stylish hats begging you to try them on. If you haven't been, you must go. If you choose to wear one of the hats for $5 all proceeds go to the charity Look Good Feel Better. When I heard about this program offered at the hotel it was a must that I go! And of course I had to bring friends with me to enjoy in one of the oldest social gathering out there!!

It was a great afternoon with amazing food, friends, tea and hats!

We had the pleasure of Sherry Abbott join us with Doctor Alex to enlighten us on this fabulous foundation. (Sherry is the stylish lady on the right in the front of the magazine below.) Just a beautiful lady inside and out who has dealt with her fair share of cancer, losing her mother to it, friends and dealing with the aftermath of when she was diagnosed years ago.  However, this outgoing, spirited and stunning figure leads this charity with pride and support to spread the word in letting women know that their is hope out there and sometimes if can be be found in a tube of lipstick. "At Look Good Feel Better, we believe that an improved self-image can help lift women's spirits and nurture hope, helping them face their illness with greater confidence. We like to call it a 'makeover for the spirit'."

I don't know about you, but I know I always feel better with a fresh face on, and maybe new shoes too!! hehe

The kit above is packed full with all donated products from the cosmetic companies, thank you for supporting them!  Its the necessity that every women possesses as their secret weapon in creating that glow they wish to see staring back at them in the mirror! The program helps women to understand that they don't have to lose their self image while they are dealing with Cancer, they offer tips and tricks, support and best of all hope to those! https://www.lgfb.ca/content/show/content_id/92 Help spread the word and if you come across a great hat, Sherry would love to have it for the charity! :)

Thank you to everyone who graced their presence that afternoon, to Sherry and Alex for sharing their story with us and to Windsor Arms for hosting us and putting on such a great program within your tea room! The program is for anyone who chooses to enjoy afternoon tea with a stylish hat on at the Windsor Arms Hotel in Toronto.

Until next time

Using Colour in the Kitchen!

Amy from Appliance Online is our guest blogger this week with a fun take on colour in the kitchen! Take it away Amy . . .

The kitchen. We all know it and we all use it.  In fact, over the years it has become more than just a place to keep food; it’s a living, breathing part of the home and the family. You have coffee with the girls at the breakfast bar or you talk (or moan!) about your day at work come suppertime with your loved ones.

Not only is the kitchen is the heart of the home, it should also be an extension of you and your family. Personalised. Colour can be a great way to do this. With that in mind, here are some inspirational ideas for making color a vital part of your kitchen design.

Red really makes a statement. It’s bright, bold and solid. Deep reds really catch the eye and can be a vibrant addition to any kitchen.

If you want to take a more subtle tact, the classic white is always a favorite as its elegance and simplicity means it can be co-ordinated with little hints and splashes of colour and steel.

If you like the ocean, then bring it home by adding some Aqua-influenced touches to your kitchen. The right shades of blues can really turn your kitchen from zero to hero!

Here are some unusual uses of color and design that I think are amazing. I wish my kitchen was as bold as these.

And to finish, here’s a picture of a puppy. For no reason, I just think it’s cute!

Windsor Arms Hotel in Toronto

Oh so Boutique and Charming!  When my friend Christine invited me to see the hotel I had to say yes for I have always wanted check out what was behind those grand wood doors!  Well I was quite blown away for the design style was very charming and traditional but with an eclectic twist added to the mix.

Every hotel room has a bit of a different design concept to them and hosts a different instrument to really make the rooms interesting, right down to a baby grand!! The rooms have kept a traditional charm to them, but never the less they are welcoming and interesting.

The hotel has a great banquet hall for events, which apparently InStyle Magazine transforms every year for their big event, but shhh that's a secret, however I could only image how much fun they would have in the space below! They also have a fine dining restaurant, a stylish bar hangout and the afternoon tea room, all just steps away from Bloor Streets fab shopping quarters.

Have you experienced their Afternoon Tea?? Windsor Arm's is quite famous for this celebration which they host two sittings a day during the week and on the weekends, reservation only, but of course. It is a must do in the city, however I am not going to elaborate because their will be a full blog post about my experience come September. On a lasting note for $5 you can rent an English hat which is in support of the charity Look Good Feel Better, great fun and for a great cause, all in the name of charity! https://www.lgfb.ca/

Windsor Arm's also has about 28 residence living quarter just to add to their on going accommodations. Nancy Pencer's 5,000-square-foot apartment, was featured in Toronto Life, and I think you can see from the youthful contemporary design approach that Windsor Arm's just isn't another old city hotel.

The hotel also has a great full service spa, pool, private movie theatre, meeting rooms and more, all nestled in a old charming building on a tree covered side street, what could be more romantic then that!! www.windsorarmshotel.com/

Happy touring my friend!

Junction Flea - A must SEE!!

This Saturday while I was sipping my Starbucks coffee and reading the paper after I just bought my local veggies for the week from the St. Lawrence Market. I found an article about the Junction Flea Market, to be honest the image actually sold me, (Second image) I didn't even need to read about it I just knew I had to go and I am glad I did!! Sunday was an over cast day with the sense of a rain down poor any second, however you would never know by the amount of people in attendance of their second last market for the year. I knew I was going to be in for some amazing retro antiques but I had no idea that I would be transformed to whole other market realm. The vibe and atmosphere was retro eclectic, the people were artists in style and the food was a  master of sensations. I felt like I was in inspiration heaven!! It is a must see, must shop and a must do!! But load up the wallet for this is not your usually flea market pricing, it is an retro antique show! Last one of the year is Sunday September 9th, don't miss it!! www.junctionflea.com
